In 1992, 60 percent of voters placed 3 two year terms on the State House and 2 four year terms on the State Senate in Arkansas. Since that time, several attempts to gut the state term limits law have been attempted, however none have come to fruition.
This year, Representative Prichard introduced SJR 4, which if passed would allow members of the state legislature to serve 14 years in a single chamber. The proposal was referred to the Government Affairs Committee, which can act to turn the proposal into a piece of legislation.
