2014 was a tough pill to swallow for voters in Arkansas. Politicians deceived voters with a sneaky ballot title that lengthened the state’s legislative term limits. The legislature now has “the weakest term limit in America”, giving a representative the ability to serve 16 years in one seat.

Thankfully, citizens have now organized a ballot drive to let voters Restore Term Limits in the fall of 2016. The folks at Arkansas Term Limits are launching a grassroots initiative to collect the 126,000 petition signatures required to place this on the ballot. Representative Prichard introduced SJR 4, which if passed would allow members of the state legislature to serve 14 years in a single chamber.  The proposal was referred to the Government Affairs Committee, which can act to turn the proposal into a piece of legislation.
